Keeping people connected these days is certainly more difficult than normal. Events are cancelled, travel is tough if not impossible, and finding ways to bridge the gap between producers and roasters requires innovation and fresh solutions. That’s why we’re partnering with the Instituto del Café de Costa Rica (ICAFE) for an event showcasing coffees, producers, and the values that guide production and continue to move coffee forward in Costa Rica.
On Tuesday, October 6, we’re hosting two live Q&A sessions in collaboration with ICAFE on Zoom to bring roasters together with four producers from Costa Rica. From 2:30–4:00pm GMT (10:30–12:00pm EDT), or from 7:30–9:00pm GMT (3:30–5:00pm EDT) you can join Bram De Hoog, Central American Coffee Buyer for Ally Coffee, and María Paz Lobo Zeledón, Marketing and Traceability Coordinator at ICAFE, in conversation with coffee farmers who are working to not only produce high quality coffee, but also to invest in a more sustainable future for coffee and community on a local and global scale. The featured producers are:
- Jorge Vasquéz, Finca Cedral Alto
- Christian Alvarez, El Rodeo
- Diego Robelo, Aquiares Estate
- Daniela Gutierrez, La Montaña de Tarrazú Micromill
Each producer focuses on one of the values highlighted in the event—sustainability, traceability, innovation, and technology—and embodies that value in the work that they do. Ahead of the event, you can check out this short playlist of videos on Youtube that highlight each of the farmers and allows them to share some of their story in their own words.
No registration is required ahead of time for these events, so be sure to mark your calendars and hold on to these links here:
